Evidence generation and use are central to the PlayMatters project, and the PlayMatters consortium is committed to building the evidence base on Learning through Play interventions. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will support the project’s production of high-quality evidence to inform policy, practice, and further research. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the PlayMatters Research & Learning Agenda through data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will also support the uptake of evidence by creating additional products from PlayMatters studies and executing dissemination activities for Consultantal and external stakeholders. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will be supervised by the PlayMatters Regional Research & Learning Coordinator, based out of NYC, NY. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant may be based in Kampala, Uganda or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. If based in Kampala or Addis Ababa, this is an in-person position with remote technical supervision and an in-person focal person will be assigned.
Requirements
- Current Masters’ or doctoral (PhD or EdD) student in Education, Psychology, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Policy Studies, or other related Social Sciences-Related discipline.
- At least one year of experience working in education in a low resource environment.
- Experience analyzing qualitative data using Dedoose, nVivo or other qualitative data analysis software is a plus.
- Experience analyzing quantitative data using SPSS, Stata, or other statistical analysis packages is a plus.
- Graphic design and data visualization experience is a plus.
- Experience working in East Africa is a plus.
- Language Skills: Strong writing skills (in English) and significant writing experience
